Gerard Farres has claimed a brilliant overall victory at the 1000 Dunas Rally, marking a perfect start to the preparation calendar for Macbor ahead of their debut as a team in the 2027 Dakar Rally. This impressive win serves as a major morale boost for the squad as they gear up for the most demanding endurance test in the motorsport calendar.
The grueling competition took place from October 18 to 23, featuring a challenging route connecting Fez with the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes in the Moroccan desert. The itinerary comprised six stages, featuring grueling marathon days and intense dune navigation that pushed every competitor to their absolute physical and mechanical limits.
Unpredictable weather added extra layers of difficulty during the week, as heavy rainfall caused significant river surges that forced organizers to alter parts of the planned itinerary. Despite these obstacles, the adversity provided invaluable data for the team regarding bike setup, engine durability, and logistical coordination in extreme environments.

For the veteran rider, accumulating competitive mileage and mastering roadbook navigation remain top priorities as he prepares to return to the motorcycle category for the first time since 2018. The intense Moroccan terrain offered the ideal testing ground to build seamless synergy between rider and machine before the ultimate challenge in January.
Following this initial triumph, the team immediately shifted focus to their next major test at the Addax Rally in Merzouga, covering approximately 1,600 kilometers of rocky tracks and sandy sectors. This continuous testing program underscores their absolute determination to arrive at the 2027 Dakar fully prepared for success.
