George Russell delivered a commanding performance in the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix sprint at Zandvoort, converting pole into victory despite looming rain clouds over the coastal circuit on Saturday afternoon.
The 24-lap sprint ran dry, with Russell holding off Lando Norris into Turn 1 and then pulling clear. It marked his third sprint win of the season and sent a strong signal to rivals for the main race.
Norris looked set for second, but a contra-strategy from Ferrari allowed Charles Leclerc on soft tyres to leap ahead. Leclerc closed in but couldn't bridge the 1.3-second gap to Russell by the chequered flag, leaving Norris to settle for third.

Championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished fourth for Mercedes, unable to deny Norris a podium spot. Oscar Piastri was fifth in the sister McLaren, holding off home hero Max Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton was a distant seventh in his Ferrari as his early battle with Verstappen faded. Pierre Gasly took the updated Alpine to eighth, scoring a point.
Further back, Liam Lawson was 11th in his first race of the season for Red Bull, while replacement at Racing Bulls, Yuki Tsunoda, finished 13th in his first outing under new regulations. Audi's Nico Hulkenberg pitted early with an issue, finishing 17 laps down, while Williams' Carlos Sainz lost a lap due to an unscheduled stop and Cadillac's Sergio Perez was three laps behind.
