Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola has revealed the contrasting emotions within the team following the official cancellation of the main Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island due to severe weather conditions and safety concerns.

The chaotic weekend created very different outcomes across the board. Marco Bezzecchi was left intensely frustrated by a missed opportunity to fight for major points, while title contenders benefited from the washout, and the management expressed sadness over how the legendary venue's final chapter concluded.

I'm sure that Marco is a bit pissed, because he saw an opportunity, Rivola said regarding his rider, who topped Friday practice before fighting through to fourth place in a challenging wet Saturday Sprint race behind the leading pack.

While heavy rain had been forecast throughout the weekend, it was ultimately the poor visibility preventing the required medical helicopter from operating that forced race control to abandon Sunday's scheduled grand prix entirely.

Personally, I brought my family here because I told them you need to see the last race in Phillip Island, so they did four days of travelling for nothing, Rivola added, while also admitting that Aprilia ultimately failed to maximize their strong dry-weather pace across recent overseas rounds.
