Frederic Vasseur expects Ferrari to receive only a fine after the team was investigated over the late physical return of tyres to Pirelli at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Ferrari faces an alleged breach of Article 6.4.2 of Formula 1’s sporting regulations. The rule requires every tyre set returned electronically to also be physically handed back to the tyre supplier before the following session begins.
The Maranello-based team completed the electronic return process after FP1 but failed to deliver the physical tyre sets to Pirelli before FP2 started. The delay subsequently triggered a stewards investigation at Spa-Francorchamps.

“We were late. It will be a fine,” Vasseur said after the session.
Vasseur does not expect the administrative infringement to result in a grid penalty. However, the final outcome remains with the stewards, who must determine whether Ferrari breached the procedure and what sanction should be imposed.
On track, Lewis Hamilton was the faster Ferrari driver in FP2, finishing fourth, while Charles Leclerc could only manage 11th place.
Vasseur described Ferrari’s morning session as relatively positive but acknowledged that FP2 was more difficult. He also stressed that different fuel loads prevented the team from making an accurate direct comparison with its rivals.
Ferrari will now focus on optimising its set-up for the remaining sessions, while the stewards’ ruling will determine whether Vasseur’s expectation of a financial penalty becomes the team’s official punishment.
