Marc Marquez once again proved his mastery at the Motorland Aragon circuit. In the Aragon Grand Prix, the Ducati Lenovo rider dominated by winning both the Sprint and the main race, collecting a total of 37 points and strengthening his position in the MotoGP standings.
Starting from pole, Marquez immediately tried to lead the race. However, a small mistake nearly ruined everything. He forgot to deactivate the rear holeshot device entering the first corner, losing several positions. Despite this, his experience and pace allowed him to recover and reclaim the lead, crossing the finish line first.
“We can make mistakes because we are human, and today I almost made a big one at Turn 1-2 by forgetting to turn off the rear device. I lost positions and it made things a bit complicated. But like I said on Thursday, if we want to have a chance at the title, we need to maximize results on favorable tracks. This weekend we managed to get 37 points,” Marquez explained, also touching on his race strategy.
This victory felt special for Marquez. With over a hundred wins, the sensation never fades. “Every win feels different. There were times when I didn’t enjoy it as much, but now I always think, is this the last one? So we have to live these moments, enjoy them, because someday we’ll miss them,” he said reflectively.
The intense battle with Marco Bezzecchi also colored the race. The two traded positions at high speed. “When you’re racing at 300 km/h and just a finger away from another bike, you don’t think about anything. It’s all adrenaline and the urge to brake later. It’s a crazy moment, but controlled craziness,” Marquez explained.
The perfect result in Aragon lifted Marquez to second in the standings, just 19 points behind leader Jorge Martin. “A lot can happen. Two weeks ago I was half dead, now I’m alive again. The important thing is to take advantage of the moments when you can win. But I see Martin and especially Bezzecchi will be strong in the coming races. We have to stay focused,” he said.
Marquez also acknowledged the threat from Pedro Acosta, who impressed. “When I saw Acosta behind me on lap two, I knew he would be the man to beat today. He’s been very fast since yesterday,” he concluded.
