A tense atmosphere recently enveloped the Scuderia Ferrari garage following internal friction between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. A crucial summit meeting involving the team principal took place to defuse mounting tensions after their controversial opening-lap duel at the Mexico City GP which effectively handed victory to Max Verstappen, compounded by sharp public criticisms in the press.
Team principal Fred Vasseur made it crystal clear that the collective prestige of the Prancing Horse brand supersedes any individual ego. Speaking directly to journalists in Brazil, the French manager emphasized that mutual respect on the tarmac is non-negotiable if the squad wants to maximize its championship potential moving forward.
We had a conversation and it went well, it was good to talk, clarify my position and theirs, Vasseur stated in front of the media present at the venue. Now we have turned the page and we are moving ahead. The directive remains exactly the same, we saw that there was frustration, but they must respect each other. They are competitive drivers, but they must respect one another and above all, respect the brand and the team.

Addressing various comparisons regarding past teammate relationships involving Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, as well as Hamilton's history alongside Valtteri Bottas, Vasseur dismissed those parallels as largely unnecessary given distinct age and experience profiles.
I am not asking them to be best friends, I actually think that would even be a bit negative, I only ask them to behave and work like professionals, Vasseur concluded. The paddock will now watch closely to see if this stern reprimand translates into disciplined wheel-to-wheel racing on track.
