MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Francesco Bagnaia arrives at MotoGP Brazil 2026 aiming to recover momentum after a difficult opening round of the season in Thailand. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider finished ninth in the main race at the Chang International Circuit, leaving him with early pressure to regain ground in the MotoGP World Championship.

The race weekend in Buriram proved challenging for Bagnaia. He struggled with rear tyre management under extremely high track temperatures, an issue that affected race pace and consistency. Following the event, Ducati engineers conducted a detailed technical analysis to understand the tyre degradation and prevent similar problems in the upcoming rounds.

The result also leaves Bagnaia needing to reduce the points gap to early season frontrunners. Riders such as Pedro Acosta and Marco Bezzecchi began the championship strongly. Bezzecchi secured victory in Thailand with Aprilia Racing, while Ducati riders struggled to reach the podium.

With MotoGP returning to Brazil at a circuit unfamiliar to most of the current grid, Ducati is expected to rely heavily on its data-driven development approach. Engineers are focusing on flexible electronic setup and engine mapping to quickly adapt the Desmosedici to the characteristics of the Goiania asphalt.

Braking stability is also expected to be a key technical factor. The layout of the Autodromo Internacional Ayrton Senna includes several technical braking zones that reward strong front-end control, traditionally one of Bagnaia’s strengths when the Ducati setup is optimized.

At the same time, Bagnaia must also manage strong internal competition inside Ducati. His teammate Marc Marquez remains a major threat despite failing to score points in the opening round. A potential duel between the two Ducati riders could become one of the main storylines of the MotoGP Brazil 2026 weekend.

With pressure to quickly return to the front of the field, the Brazil round represents an important opportunity for Bagnaia to rebuild momentum before the championship continues to the next event in the MotoGP World Championship.
