A new force in electric racing has officially broken cover. At the Shoreditch Electric Light Station in London, Fortescue Zero Racing unveiled its striking black and green livery, marking the start of its journey into the 2026/27 Formula E campaign. The British-based, Australian-licensed squad, formed through the acquisition of Penske Autosport, is set to hit the ground running with Jaguar customer powertrains under the new Gen4 regulations.
The launch event saw attendance from the team's hierarchy, including founder Dr. Andrew Forrest and CEO Gus Pichot. Leading the charge on the pit wall is team principal Jim Wright, whose extensive background in Formula 1—spanning roles at Williams, Toro Rosso, and Virgin Racing—combined with a decade of Formula E leadership, makes him a pivotal figure in the team's infancy.
"We’re not here to blend in. We’re here to build a team that competes, does things differently and earns its place on the grid," Wright stated during the unveiling. He emphasized that while the launch is a moment of celebration, the focus remains on the intensive work required to be ready for the team's first on-circuit running next week.

Dan Ticktum, confirmed as the team's lead driver, was the center of attention as he embraced his new chapter. The Briton joins the outfit following a turbulent exit from Cupra Kiro, where internal friction over contractual and disciplinary matters defined his final days. Ticktum’s arrival provides the team with a known quantity—a driver with undeniable speed and a point to prove.
However, the event was not without its shadows. The conspicuous absence of Taylor Barnard, the team's other confirmed driver, cast a cloud over the proceedings. With ongoing legal battles surrounding Barnard’s status, his non-attendance served as a stark reminder of the complexities the team must navigate before the season truly begins.
With global brand ambassador Claire Williams lending her support, Fortescue Zero is positioning itself as a serious contender. As the paddock prepares for the Gen4 era, the team's blend of seasoned management and raw driving talent will be tested immediately under the intense spotlight of the Formula E grid.
