Esteban Ocon Hits Back at F1 Rumours After Haas Replacement

Internal tensions erupted within the Haas garage following a surprise decision to sideline Esteban Ocon for the remainder of the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix weekend at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The situation began when the French driver was absent from the opening practice session, with rookie Ryo Hirakawa taking over his car alongside a slew of young talents making their rookie FP1 appearances.

Although Ocon returned to the cockpit for the second practice session, the atmosphere quickly deteriorated due to heated radio exchanges between the driver and the pit wall. The argument centered on which tyre compounds the team wanted Ocon to run, leading to a visible clash of opinions between the two parties during a crucial phase of track running.

Shortly after the session concluded, the team announced that Hirakawa would replace Ocon for the rest of the weekend. Officials offered no detailed explanation for the sudden driver change, merely confirming that the decision was not a result of any illness. The abrupt announcement immediately fueled rampant paddock rumours regarding the future of the partnership.

Amid speculation suggesting that the disagreement had turned physical between the driver and team members, Ocon took to social media to issue a formal statement addressing the situation directly. He firmly rejected all allegations of physical violence while acknowledging that a professional disagreement had taken place.

"Following the recent decision from the Haas F1 Team confirming that I will not be participating in this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix, I wish to formally address some media reports and speculation surrounding the situation," Ocon stated. He continued, "Last night, a difference in viewpoints led to a discussion with the parties involved. Whilst I acknowledge that this took place, I categorically reject any reports or allegations suggesting that any form of physical violence was used to resolve any differences of any nature."

Emphasizing his stance on professional conduct, Ocon added, "I strongly condemn violence in all its forms and firmly believe that disagreements should always be handled with professionalism, respect, and mutual understanding. I kindly ask that speculation be avoided while the matter is being addressed. Further updates will be communicated in due course."

Uncertainty still looms over whether Esteban Ocon will make his return for the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix or if Ryo Hirakawa, Jack Doohan, or Rafa Camara will be fielded in his place. So far, team management has refrained from providing further comments on the ongoing situation.
