Finnish rally driver Emil Lindholm finds his future in the World Rally Championship hanging in the balance following a challenging and underwhelming campaign. The former WRC2 world champion failed to secure a single podium finish across six WRC rallies, recording a mere nine stage wins throughout the entire year—a statistic that falls short of expectations for a driver of his caliber.

The career of the 2022 champion has noticeably stalled following a two-year stint with Hyundai that ultimately failed to yield an opportunity to prove his worth in the premier top category. Despite remaining fiercely hungry to reach the absolute summit of international rallying, his efforts to rebuild momentum have yet to gain meaningful traction.

Speaking to RallyJournal, Lindholm expressed a clear desire to maintain his partnership with Toksport and Skoda for the upcoming season, citing a proven working relationship and top-tier team infrastructure.

"Obviously, we would like to continue with Toksport and Skoda next season. The partnership has worked, the car is good and the team is absolutely top class," Lindholm stated regarding his plans for the future.

Securing a competitive seat will heavily depend on partner backing, especially with a massive technical overhaul looming over WRC regulations next year. The incoming Rally1 cars are set to feature 310 horsepower—just slightly above current Rally2 machinery—potentially narrowing the competitive performance gap significantly, particularly with the introduction of new kit packages.

"It remains a bit of a question mark because there are no sporting regulations for next season, and we do not know which class the Skoda will compete in. Of course, it will certainly be possible to compete in WRC2, but let’s wait for the regulations before saying anything at all about our plans," Lindholm firmly explained.
