M-Sport team principal Richard Millener has reported a highly encouraging opening test with their 2027-specification Ford Fiesta in Spain. The car, outfitted with the new WRC Kit in Tarmac specification, completed valuable early mileage handled by Matthew Wilson before handing over driving duties to this year's WRC2 competitor, Romet Jurgenson.
Running through a series of initial evaluations, the car completed the opening phases without encountering any technical hurdles. While the engineering squad remains in the early stages of integrating the kit into the chassis, the initial telemetry and driver feedback have provided a strong baseline for the upcoming development cycles ahead of the World Rally Championship.
Millener stated, "It’s good to get the early miles down with no problems at all. Obviously, we’re pretty early in the work with the kit on the car, but the results were encouraging." He added a reminder regarding performance expectations, echoing recent comments made by Elfyn Evans that these new machines operate under a completely different paradigm compared to the outgoing Rally1 era.

Regarding the driver market and potential line-ups for the upcoming campaign, Millener kept his cards close to his chest while acknowledging ongoing evaluations regarding a potential three-car entry. Discussions remain fluid as the management weighs various options for the team's operational structure.
Speculation surrounding a potential return for Adrien Fourmaux was met with a cautious response, with management noting ongoing talks with multiple drivers. Industry insights indicate M-Sport is contemplating a hybrid approach combining customer entries and drivers who could spearhead Ford's official manufacturer return in 2028.
