The battle for intermediate class supremacy reached a fever pitch under the floodlights of the Lusail International Circuit as Daniel Holgado unleashed a blistering lap to dominate the official practice session at the MotoGP Qatar weekend. Ambient temperatures hovered around 30 degrees Celsius as riders pushed the limits to secure direct entry into Q2.
The championship stakes heading into the final rounds remain razor-thin, with Manuel Gonzalez leading the overall standings by a mere 3.5 points. The high-pressure environment immediately translated into fierce on-track action as the 40-minute afternoon session got underway under the magnificent night illumination.
Midway through the session, the timing screens flickered constantly as front-runners exchanged fastest sectors. Gonzalez briefly claimed provisional top spot before having his lap time deleted due to track limits infringement. Meanwhile, Collin Veijer showcased his growing potential by temporarily vaulting into the top three, demonstrating strong pace in the desert conditions.

The ultimate time-attack shootout unfolded in the final ten minutes after a brief tactical game of cat-and-mouse in search of slipstreams. Holgado delivered the decisive blow by clocking a stunning record lap of 1:55.897, leaving the rest of the field trailing in his wake.
"We managed our run plan perfectly and found incredible grip right when it mattered most," reflected Holgado after securing the psychological upper hand. Title contender Izan Guevara also carved his way into the top three, setting up an intense qualifying showdown ahead of race day.
