Christian Horner has provided a firm clarification regarding rumors linking him to a potential future managerial role at Maranello following the launch of his new book. The British motorsport manager addressed the misunderstanding stemming from a controversial interview published by the press, aiming to set the record straight once and for all.
Speaking on a podcast with The Race, the former Red Bull chief explained that his respectful remarks about the legendary Italian squad were taken out of context by a misleading headline. He emphasized that he never claimed the Italian team was his ultimate career dream, noting that the interview was conducted roughly a month prior to its actual publication date amid a very specific media climate.
Horner expressed genuine regret over the intense pressure that the sensationalized headline placed on Fred Vasseur. Having spent decades leading a major operation, he fully understands the unique weight and scrutiny that comes with managing such an iconic national racing institution. He praised Vasseur's capable management style and pedigree from junior categories, suggesting that stability and time are the primary ingredients needed for success.
When pressed further about potential relationships with the upper management in Maranello and the prospect of being granted absolute authority, Horner adroitly shifted the conversation toward organizational stability. Drawing from his extensive experience facing numerous team principals over the years, he reiterated that maintaining a steady internal structure is paramount in top-tier motorsport.
Concluding his remarks, Horner acknowledged that being associated with a brand of such immense influence is undoubtedly an honor in the paddock. However, he made it abundantly clear that he is currently pursuing other options and is not actively looking to secure that specific role.
