The Cadillac Formula 1 team is bracing for a highly anticipated home weekend at the Circuit of the Americas for their first official United States Grand Prix. Following their appearance in Florida earlier this May, the newly established outfit arrives in Texas equipped with a minor upgrade package centered around the floor and cooling system.
Alongside the technical updates, the American-backed squad is handing Colton Herta another crucial opportunity behind the wheel during the opening free practice session. The talented young charger, currently competing in Formula 2, will take over the cockpit from Sergio Perez for a full 60 minutes around the Austin layout.
This Friday appearance marks the fourth and final mandatory young driver practice outing of the season for the American hopeful. These sessions provide vital superlicense points as he continues his pursuit of a permanent seat in the premier motorsport category amid fierce competition.

Team Principal Marcin Budkowski expressed enthusiasm ahead of the team's appearance in Texas, highlighting the driver's deep familiarity with the track layout from his previous American single-seater racing days.
"We are looking forward to having Colton back in the car for the first free practice on Friday. Colton knows this racetrack very well from his IndyCar days, so his feedback will be valuable when we set our baseline for the weekend," stated Marcin Budkowski.
For the driver himself, returning to the venue of his past triumphs carries profound personal significance. He famously secured his maiden victory at the Texas circuit back in 2019, writing his name into the record books as the youngest race winner in that series history at just 18 years old.
"It will be very special to drive the MAC-26 in front of the American fans at the Circuit of the Americas. I have great memories of this track: my first IndyCar win here in 2019 was an important milestone in my career, so it feels full circle to now step into an F1 car on this course," shared Colton Herta.
Having previously completed outings in Barcelona, Budapest, and Monza, the young racer aims to execute a clean run during the morning practice session in Austin. His primary objectives remain focused on completing the testing program, helping engineers gather setup data, and returning the car in optimal shape to Sergio Perez.
