Nicolo Bulega is unstoppable in WorldSBK this season. The Aruba Racing rider took another victory at Magny-Cours, further cementing his dominance in the superbike class. But beyond the track, the Italian is already eyeing the future. Bulega's name is strongly linked with a move to MotoGP, and he has now spoken out about how his riding style compares to Toprak Razgatlioglu.
In an interview with GPone, Bulega expressed his belief that his style is actually more adaptable to modern MotoGP bikes with their heavy aerodynamics. “Toprak and I have very different riding styles. Last year he was strong in certain sections, while I had my own strengths. My mid-corner speed is better. In MotoGP, with all this aero, you have to be very fast right in the middle of the corner. So, if I go to MotoGP, I'm not saying it will be easy, but maybe my riding style will adapt better to this kind of bike,” Bulega explained.
This statement is a strong signal that the Italian rider is serious about chasing his dream of racing in the premier class. Earlier, he also had a private test with the Ducati Desmosedici at Mugello, and the results were said to be positive. If he does join, Bulega is predicted to strengthen a satellite Ducati team in 2026, filling a seat currently occupied by a young talented rider.
Dominance Continues
However, Bulega is in no rush. He stressed that the competition in WorldSBK this season is not easy. “Every time Iker (Lecuona) gives something extra, I always try to do the same. It's not true that I have no rivals. When he started to catch me and we started fighting, I actually enjoyed it. I'm happy because, when I was behind him, I realized I had something in reserve,” he said.
Bulega also admitted to learning a lot from his intense battles with Toprak last season. “Yes, I learned a lot from Toprak. Last year we had a bike that wasn't old, but it wasn't as new as the one we have now. This bike is a big step forward. Toprak was very strong and I learned a lot from him. When I saw him win, it reminded me of some of our battles last year,” he recalled.
Regarding future plans, Bulega confirmed that an official announcement about his future will come soon. “I hope the next days and weeks will be positive for me. For now, I'm happy to have won, and I want to enjoy this moment until Cremona,” he said. He also plans to attend Misano to watch the Italian GP MotoGP, albeit briefly. “Yes, I think I'll go, maybe just for a day. I prefer to watch races on the sofa. Doing it with air conditioning isn't bad!” he joked.
With two rounds remaining, Bulega is highly motivated to perform well at Cremona, which is his home race. “Cremona is my home race. Ducati is there, I'm Italian: it would be fantastic to win there,” he concluded. All eyes are now on Bulega, both in WorldSBK and on his potential move to MotoGP.
