Brad Jones Racing (BJR) has been hit with a AU$500 fine after a screwdriver was ejected from the #96 Toyota Supra during Friday practice at Ipswich. The tool was left inside the cockpit following electrical repairs, and it flew out at Turn 2, forcing officials to retrieve it from the outfield between the back-to-back sessions.
The incident breached Rule D11.7.3, which mandates that each car must be completely free of all hoses, tools, team members, and any other equipment while the car is moving. BJR accepted the penalty without appeal, marking the second time in 12 months that the team has been fined at Ipswich for a similar infraction—last year, an oil bottle fell from Jaxon Evans' car.
In the day's practice results, BJR drivers Andre Heimgartner, Cameron Hill, and Macauley Jones finished 19th, 21st, and 26th respectively. Meanwhile, Toyota Supercars' spearhead impressed with 'mind-blowing' lap times on the Supra, raising the competitive bar.

The incident underscores the importance of strict pit lane procedures and the consequences of oversight, even for established teams like BJR. While the fine is modest, it serves as a reminder of the safety protocols that govern on-track activity.
