Kimi Antonelli continues to flex his muscles on the Formula 1 stage. After Lando Norris won the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, the young Mercedes driver extended his lead in the drivers' standings. The result of this weekend made the title fight even more intriguing, with the runner-up spot changing hands.
Antonelli and his teammate, George Russell, finished with the same points haul thanks to the sprint format. As a result, the two Mercedes drivers cancelled each other out in the championship, even though the team order favoured Antonelli in the closing laps. Consequently, Russell reclaimed second place from Lewis Hamilton, who now drops to third.
Meanwhile, Norris shone in front of his home crowd. The McLaren driver not only won from pole position but also secured the bonus point for fastest lap. With an additional 31 points, Norris jumped to fourth in the standings, just a stone's throw from Charles Leclerc who continues to score consistently.

On the other side, Max Verstappen had to wave goodbye to his home podium dreams after crashing out. The Red Bull driver retired from the race, losing valuable points and remaining sixth. This failure is a heavy blow for Verstappen, who had hoped to be competitive at Zandvoort.
Fernando Alonso also contributed two points for Aston Martin after finishing ninth. This is a significant boost for the team, which had only managed one point in Monaco. Meanwhile, Audi added two more points in the constructors' battle.
With 12 rounds completed, Antonelli leads with 242 points, 59 ahead of Russell and Hamilton who both have 183. But who can predict the direction of the title fight in the second half of the season? The pressure is now on the challengers to close the gap before it's too late.
