Newly crowned Supersport champion Albert Arenas has officially decided to part ways with Yamaha after negotiations regarding a WorldSBK seat for the upcoming 2027 season failed to result in a satisfying agreement for his career progression.

The Iwata manufacturer previously allocated only one factory-supported machine for the 2027 Superbike grid and opted to sign Jack Miller, leveraging the Australian rider's extensive premier-class experience. Yamaha proposed that Arenas stay another year in Supersport with R1 test opportunities and a potential promotion for 2028, but the rider found this alternative unappealing.

Reflecting on the decision during a paddock meeting in Estoril, the 29-year-old acknowledged the logic behind the management's choice while confirming his exit. He emphasized his pride in representing a factory and driving development forward, elements that ultimately led to his departure.

"They chose Jack Miller, which is fair," Arenas stated. "He comes from MotoGP and is very experienced, they preferred him over me. I accept that, but I am sad. In recent weeks I have talked a lot with Niccolo Canepa, I am very grateful for what Yamaha has done for me. But I cannot continue with them."

Following his exit from the blue squad, intense paddock speculation links the Spaniard to Chinese manufacturer CF Moto, which is slated to enter the WorldSBK championship with its V4 SR-RR machine during the second half of the 2027 season.

As reported by Speedweek, this strategic shift places the former Supersport kingpin in prime position to spearhead a brand-new factory development program, shaking up the traditional manufacturer hierarchy in the production-based world championship.
