Following the intense race weekend at the Mandalika circuit, Marc Marquez made a strategic decision to bypass an immediate flight back to Europe. Instead of enduring the fatigue of a long-haul journey, the star Ducati rider decided to remain in Southeast Asia, utilizing the island of Bali as his dedicated training base ahead of the upcoming 2026 Australian Grand Prix.
The nine-time world champion opted for this approach to maintain peak physical condition and razor-sharp focus for the final five Grands Prix of the season. Amidst the tropical backdrop of Bali, the Spanish rider has combined downtime with his partner Gemma alongside a rigorous workout regime tailored specifically to prepare for the unique demands of the upcoming overseas rounds.
His daily routine on the island goes far beyond relaxation, featuring grueling gym sessions designed to build core strength and endurance. Furthermore, the veteran contender logs significant miles on his road bike, ensuring his cardiovascular capacity and sharp reflexes remain fully optimized for the high-speed challenges awaiting the premier class.
This meticulous preparation comes as championship contenders navigate the two-week autumn break in various ways. Championship leader Jorge Martin chose to stay on the neighboring island of Lombok with his partner Maria, while other competitors like Pedro Acosta returned to Spain to focus on motocross training.
The entire MotoGP paddock is now preparing to make the journey down under to Phillip Island for the race weekend scheduled from October 23 to 25, 2026. This upcoming event marks the final time the premier class will visit the iconic coastal venue before the Australian Grand Prix shifts its home to Adelaide starting in the 2027 season.
