Perez Warns Singapore GP is Cadillac's Last Chance for F1 Points
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Cadillac are yet to score its first F1 points

Sergio Perez believes the Marina Bay Street Circuit may prove to be the last chance Cadillac has to score its first points in Formula 1 this season. The General Motors-backed project has endured a crude reality check in its maiden F1 campaign. While the team is being led out on track by a pair of proven Grand Prix winners, it still has not managed to secure its first championship points.

Heading into the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, Sergio Perez holds the strong opinion that this might be the final opportunity for the team to push themselves into a points-scoring position at the chequered flag. Speaking to media including Motorsport Week, the experienced racer outlined the stark performance delta of the car. "It's a good opportunity for us," he told media including Motorsport Week, noting that given the current car delta and the lack of incoming upgrades, this is likely their final good chance to secure a strong result.

The task at hand is amplified significantly by the schedule, as this weekend marks the first-ever Sprint race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The track has long been notorious for its severe technical complexity, and having only a single practice session on Friday before diving straight into sprint qualifying is a major cause for concern for Sergio Perez and the wider Cadillac crew.

"It puts a little bit more uncertainty on the weekend, a little bit more tension," Sergio Perez added regarding the sprint format. On a demanding street circuit where building confidence lap by lap is critical, the driver can indeed make a tangible difference. Having famously won the Singapore Grand Prix back in 2022 during his stint with Red Bull, the Mexican driver feels fully up to the challenge ahead.

Even so, Sergio Perez concedes that Cadillac will need to drastically overdeliver if they want to secure a strong grid slot for Sunday's main race. With limited practice time available, extracting maximum speed immediately is mandatory. "We will give everything we have. We have to, especially for qualifying, we need to be able to overdeliver massively to get something," he concluded, hoping to replicate the fighting spirit previously shown in Baku.
