The opening day of the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend at the Sepang International Circuit brought encouraging signs for Marco Bezzecchi as he showed a marked improvement compared to the struggles of previous seasons. The standout Aprilia factory rider carved his way to a strong second-fastest lap time during the opening Free Practice session, before eventually cementing a competitive sixth position at the conclusion of the afternoon Practice.
The competitive speed of the Noale machine was immediately evident from the moment the session got underway under the scorching Malaysian sun. The Italian rider quickly found a comfortable rhythm aboard his motorcycle, providing a clear indication that the meticulous setup work carried out by his engineering crew inside the pit box has unlocked valuable performance.
Despite the strong race simulation pace, clear areas for technical refinement remain as the team prepares for the high-intensity qualifying sessions ahead. Maximizing grip levels and optimizing the machine behavior for a single flying lap during time attack runs will dictate how high the team can climb on the starting grid for the upcoming races.

Looking ahead to Saturday's action, the Italian contender acknowledges the towering challenge required to counter the apparent superiority shown by rivals on track. All competitive Ducati machinery appear exceptionally strong and fast around the demanding layout of the Sepang circuit, led closely by the relentless pace of Marc Marquez.
Reporting from FormulaPassion, the factory rider openly assessed his opening day performance in Malaysia by stating: “It was a good Friday, especially compared to last year which was very difficult. Today wasn't easy either, but I am happy with the work done, I felt good on the bike, especially on the race pace. Surely there are aspects to improve, in particular in the time attack, and we will work on it to try to fix everything ahead of tomorrow.”
