Chinese manufacturer Zontes is wastes no time in expanding its high-performance motorcycle portfolio. While the 703 series featuring the brand's first in-house three-cylinder engine with 699 cc and 95 horsepower is currently rolling out across the European market, parent company Guangdong Tayo Motorcycle is already preparing its next major evolutionary step.

Contrary to initial expectations, the upcoming Zontes ZT903-R does not simply rely on a bored-out version of the familiar 703 platform. Technical drawings confirm an entirely independent engine casing and a newly engineered layout. Industry insiders in China estimate the displacement to sit between 875 and 900 cc, aimed squarely at delivering maximum performance of around 135 horsepower to directly challenge Japanese and European rivals in the naked segment.

The chassis architecture is equally impressive, featuring a newly designed cast aluminum main frame paired with a bolted rear subframe. A standout visual element is the beefy single-sided swingarm guiding the rear wheel. The exhaust system routes neatly beneath the engine into a compact catalytic converter before exiting through dual high-mounted tailpipes directly under the seat.

Braking hardware marks a notable upgrade from previous models, relying on radially mounted Brembo four-piston monoblock calipers up front. Fully adjustable upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock round out the suspension package. The aggressive styling is defined by stacked LED projector headlights, aerodynamic winglets integrated into the fuel tank shrouds, and a comprehensive electronics suite.

Proof that these blueprints represent more than just a styling exercise comes in the form of road-legal necessities such as fork reflectors and license plate brackets, with test mules already spotted on public roads in China. While an official debut could happen soon, series production and the subsequent European market launch are anticipated no earlier than 2027.
