Valencia will once again host the final round of the MotoGP season after the championship confirmed Circuit Ricardo Tormo as the venue for the 2027 finale. The Valencia Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from November 26-28 next year.
As reported by Crash.net, Valencia becomes the second confirmed date on the 2027 MotoGP calendar after Buriram was previously announced as the season opener. Thailand will host the opening round from March 5-7, 2027, one week later than the start of the 2026 campaign.
The decision continues Valencia's long-standing role as the traditional season finale. Since the start of the four-stroke MotoGP era in 2002, only the 2020 and 2024 seasons have ended at another venue.
MotoGP deputy CEO Carlos Ezpeleta highlighted the atmosphere surrounding the Spanish circuit as one of the key reasons for continuing to use Valencia as the championship's closing venue.
“There are few places that capture the spirit of a MotoGP season finale quite like Circuit Ricardo Tormo. The circuit, the city and the fans create a truly special atmosphere every year, making it the perfect venue to bring another season of world-class competition to a close,” Ezpeleta said.
Valencia government president Juanfran Perez Llorca also welcomed the confirmation, describing the event as positive news for both Circuit Ricardo Tormo and the wider Valencian Community.
“Hosting the final round of the MotoGP World Championship is a tribute to the event organisers and to our fans, who ensure that this Grand Prix continues to grow year on year,” Perez Llorca said.
The 2027 season will follow a condensed pre-season testing programme, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-February. The championship is then due to begin in Brazil on February 21 before moving to Buriram for the first confirmed Grand Prix weekend of the campaign.
The full 2027 calendar has been delayed compared with the usual schedule amid uncertainty surrounding international events in the Middle East. Several motorsport championships have faced similar delays while assessing whether races in the region can be staged as planned.
The 2026 MotoGP calendar was also affected by the situation, with the Qatar Grand Prix moved to November. That change subsequently pushed both the Valencia and Portimao rounds back by one week, with Valencia now scheduled for November 27-29 this year.
MotoGP is expected to reveal the remainder of the 2027 calendar on September 25. With Buriram confirmed as the opening venue and Valencia secured as the season finale, the championship's schedule for next year will take clearer shape later this week.
