Supercars heads into The Bend 500 without one of its key backroom figures. The series' General Manager of Motorsport, Supercars, has just undergone hip replacement surgery and will be absent from the circuit this weekend.

The operation took place immediately after the Ipswich Super440 round late last month. Despite this, Edwards, as he is commonly known, continues to work from his home on the Gold Coast during recovery. He will stay connected to his trackside team with full vision and radio access, ensuring coordination remains seamless even without his physical presence.

To fill the void, Supercars has appointed James Delzoppo, Motorsport Operations Manager, as the stand-in General Manager of Motorsport for The Bend. It's no small task, given the intensive preparations leading into The Bend 500.

Just two days before the race, Supercars announced a parity change for the Chevrolet Camaro. Additionally, major efforts have been focused on sourcing replacement brake pads after issues at Ipswich. New brake pads imported from UK-based control supplier Ferodo will be tested in an untimed session dedicated specifically on Friday.

A total of five timed practice sessions will follow across Friday and Saturday, ahead of qualifying, a Top 10 Shootout, a warm-up, and the 500km race finale. With various technical changes and tight preparations, The Bend 500 promises to be a stern test for crews and drivers alike.
