Former professional motorcycle racer Ruben Xaus recently provided a comprehensive analysis of the weather-affected Grand Prix Australia weekend. Speaking on Duralavita, Xaus dissected the intense battles witnessed at Phillip Island before severe weather forced the cancellation of Sunday's main races.
During Saturday's Sprint race, Marc Marquez secured victory following a fierce duel against Jorge Martin. However, the high-stakes battle ended in disaster for the Aprilia rider, who suffered a heavy crash resulting in a broken right arm.
«Martin made more mistakes than usual because Marquez forced him to make them,» Xaus stated, explaining how the relentless pressure from the multi-time world champion pushed his rivals beyond their limits.

Addressing the controversial cancellation of Sunday's events due to heavy rain and dangerous sea winds, Xaus argued that organizers were already aware of the forecast as early as Thursday but failed to adjust the schedule.
«This has gone in favor of Liberty in this case, because this situation has also helped to make an easier decision versus the spectacle of the championship,» Xaus remarked, touching upon the widespread speculation regarding championship entertainment value.
Drawing from his own racing experience at the iconic seaside venue, Xaus emphasized that the unique wind gusts and poor visibility make Phillip Island one of the most treacherous tracks on the calendar under wet conditions.
