Valentin Perrone topped the opening day of Moto3 at Silverstone for the 2026 British Grand Prix. The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider sealed the fastest time in the second practice session, also securing a direct ticket to Q2.

Perrone, who was in 11th place, used two flying laps at the end of the session to clock a 2:09.568s best. Scott Ogden impressed on home soil, finishing second just 0.010s behind the leader.

Veda Pratama was the top rookie in third for Honda Team Asia. The Indonesian rider stood out on a track new to him, showing quick adaptation to the 5.9km circuit.

The battle for the top 14 direct Q2 spots was intense. Casey O'Gorman briefly rose to second before dropping to fifth. Local hero Eddie O'Shea nearly missed out but managed to secure 11th with a last-gasp effort.

Adrian Fernandez and Ryusei Yamanaka completed the safe positions. Meanwhile, Matteo Bertelle was the unlucky one, failing to hold his top-10 spot and finishing 15th, forcing him into Q1.

Three replacement riders are present this round: Leonardo Abruzzo returns to Moto3 with Code Motorsports, Kiattisak Singhapong replaces Zen Mitani at Honda Team Asia, and David Gonzalez rides for Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP in place of the injured David Munoz.

Perrone's time was still under Adrian Fernandez's race lap record (2:09.727) and Alvaro Carpe's absolute record (2:09.104) from last year, indicating a tight qualifying battle ahead.
