Sergio Perez has admitted that Cadillac's recent development stall in Formula 1 has left him disappointed, though he remains confident the team can unlock another second of performance in 2026.
Early in the season, Cadillac made significant strides, pulling clear of a struggling Aston Martin and consistently beating them to avoid last place. But that momentum has faded, with Aston Martin finding pace through upgrades and Honda's support.
Speaking on the Beyond the Grid podcast, Perez said the last few races have been a letdown. "We haven't been developing. We haven't been improving. As a new team, that's what we should be doing every time. So I felt there was a bit of stalling," he said.
Perez revealed the team had targeted a two-second gain but found only around one second. He believes that finding that extra second could transform their battles with Williams, Haas, and Aston Martin.
"We are at the back, but half a second or one second will change our life completely at this stage," he added. He stressed the need to review internal processes to understand why the progress hasn't come.
