Sami Pajari further solidified his lead in the WRC Rally Paraguay after a strong run through SS20. The Toyota driver finished just a couple of seconds behind teammate Oliver Solberg's benchmark time on the nearly seven-kilometre Artigas Oeste test, and now holds a 26.1-second advantage over Hyundai's Hayden Paddon.
Paddon, who is chasing in second, admitted to being cautious to protect his chances. "This was a really nice stage. It was quite slippery in the soft sections, but it was a beautiful stage to drive," he said. "It was a short stage and I just tried to keep it clean. I'm simply trying to manage the situation and put a little pressure on Sami. I'm trying to keep my nerves under control. I could have driven much faster, but I couldn't quite get a feel for the car under braking."
Meanwhile, Adrien Fourmaux in the Hyundai sits third, 49.4 seconds behind, with Elfyn Evans of Toyota lurking fourth, just 3.8 seconds behind Fourmaux. The battle at the top remains wide open with three stages left on Sunday.
In the Super Sunday classification, Sebastien Ogier, who retired on Friday, has been impressive. The Frenchman leads the day's standings by 2.2 seconds over Solberg, followed by Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) in third, then Fourmaux and Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota). This shows Ogier's champion mentality, never giving up despite early misfortune.
In WRC2, home driver Diego Dominguez continues to lead, with Britain's Gus Greensmith over 20 seconds behind. The overall standings show Toyota's dominance at the front, but Hyundai keeps the pressure on. With three stages remaining, anything can still happen in Paraguay.
