Sami Pajari believes he now has a genuine opportunity to fight for Super Sunday points after climbing to sixth overall at the 2026 Acropolis Rally Greece following the drama of SS13.
The Toyota Gazoo Racing driver had been heading for an uneventful Saturday until punctures for team-mate Elfyn Evans and Hyundai's Dani Sordo on the final stage promoted him two places in the overall standings.
"It's funny how these things sometimes work out. We managed to stay out of trouble all day, but for a long time it looked like nobody else was having any problems either. After moving up a couple of places, we might now have a chance to fight for the Super Sunday points."

Pajari admitted he has yet to decide on his approach for Sunday's stages. Evans trails him by only 4.8 seconds, while Josh McErlean remains more than one and a half minutes ahead in fifth place.
"Sixth place doesn't exactly make me happy. But it could actually be quite a good position from which to have a go at the Super Sunday points. We have to be realistic because some drivers chasing those points will start ahead of us and face different road conditions."
The Finn added that road conditions had a major impact on stage times throughout Saturday. Although he felt his pace was competitive, the running order prevented that from being fully reflected in the results.
Pajari expects Sunday's four remaining stages to be slightly softer than Saturday's, although several rocky sections, including part of the Power Stage, will continue to put heavy stress on the tyres.
