Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Oscar Piastri set the fastest time in the second free practice session of the 2026 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park. The home driver for McLaren topped the session with a lap of 1:19.729, finishing just over two-tenths of a second ahead of Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli.
Piastri delivered a strong performance in front of his home crowd and became the first driver of the weekend to break into the 1:19 range. Mercedes also showed competitive pace, with Antonelli securing second place while team-mate George Russell finished third.
Behind the Mercedes duo, the two Ferrari drivers completed the top five positions. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth, while Charles Leclerc placed fifth after topping the earlier FP1 session.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing set the sixth-fastest time, followed by reigning world champion Lando Norris in seventh for McLaren. Rookie Arvid Lindblad once again impressed by finishing eighth for Racing Bulls.
Some teams endured a difficult session. Cadillac did not record a lap time for Sergio Perez, while Aston Martin remained near the bottom of the order with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
The FP2 results provide an early indication of the competitive picture heading into qualifying for the 2026 Australian Grand Prix, with McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull appearing closely matched at the front of the field.
