Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri came close to blows in the closing laps of the Italian Grand Prix, but Norris has now insisted his teammate did nothing wrong.

The pair were fighting hard for fourth place at Monza, with Oscar Piastri ahead until Norris made a move at Turn 4. Norris ran wide onto the grass, prompting a radio outburst accusing Piastri of pushing him off.

After the race, Norris changed his tune. “No, it was okay. I just need to review things, but it's just the perception of when you're in the car, when someone's opening the gap a bit and then goes straight,” he told media including RacingNews365.

“You get that perception when you're going at 200 miles per hour. So that's all. I think what he did was fair,” added the British driver.

Norris eventually passed Piastri on the final lap at Ascari to finish ahead. Despite the earlier frustration, Norris said he enjoyed the fight.

“It's just when you're in the moment, and you're half on the grass, you don't realise how quickly things can end pretty badly. Just in the heat of the moment, but no from that side, it was fine and it was a good battle. A good result from a tough race,” he explained.

The result keeps Lando Norris and McLaren in the hunt, though their form dipped slightly after two straight wins. The calm resolution of their intra-team duel shows maturity under pressure.
