Nicolo Bulega admitted he remains optimistic about a potential MotoGP move in 2027 as speculation surrounding the Ducati rider’s future continues to grow.
The current WorldSBK championship leader has become one of the most discussed names in the Most paddock following his dominant performances throughout the 2026 season. The upcoming MotoGP 850cc regulation era is also creating new opportunities in the rider market.
Speaking during the Czech Round weekend, Bulega revealed he feels positive about his future despite negotiations still ongoing with his management team.

“I have a good feeling about it. We are still discussing a few things with my manager, but I’m optimistic, so we will see,” Bulega explained.
Bulega also confirmed he recently completed a MotoGP test at Mugello aboard the new-generation 850cc prototype. Although the outing lasted only around 25 laps, the Italian rider described the experience as extremely important for understanding his future direction.
“The test was short but intense. I had just driven around 900 kilometres from Balaton to Mugello, so I was quite tired. But returning to Mugello on a MotoGP bike after three years was amazing,” he said.
Despite continuing to view MotoGP as his childhood dream, Bulega stressed he remains genuinely happy in WorldSBK. He believes Ducati’s latest Panigale package still holds significant untapped potential.
According to Bulega, one of the main challenges this season has been adapting to the new Ducati package, which requires a very different setup philosophy compared to last year’s bike. That has made development work more complicated despite the team’s strong competitiveness.
“Right now the target is to extract 100 percent from this Panigale. Compared to last year, the bike is new and every time we go on track everything is a bit more complicated,” he explained.
Bulega also commented on Fabio Di Giannantonio’s reported decision to leave VR46 for KTM. In his view, switching manufacturers always carries major uncertainty because riders never fully know what awaits them in a new project.
“When you make a change, there is never any guarantee. You know what you are leaving behind, but you do not know what you will find,” Bulega stated.
The Aruba Ducati rider also believes the timing could now be ideal for a MotoGP switch because of the major technical regulation changes arriving in 2027. However, he insisted he would not be disappointed if he ultimately remained in WorldSBK.
“If it happens, of course I’ll be very happy because it has been my dream since I was a child. But if it doesn’t, I’m still very happy staying in Superbike as a rider who is currently winning,” Bulega concluded.
