MotoGP British GP: Fernandez Dominates, Martin Extends Lead

After crashing out of Saturday's sprint, Raul Fernandez bounced back in style at the British Grand Prix, taking his first win of the 2026 MotoGP season with a commanding performance at Silverstone.

The Trackhouse rider seized the lead at the start from second on the grid, while polesitter Jorge Martin dropped back due to a stuck rear ride-height device. Fernandez quickly built a gap, leading every lap and finishing over two seconds clear of the chasing pack.

A Statement Win

Fernandez's dominance was never in question. He managed his pace brilliantly, pulling away to a 4.5-second lead by lap nine as Jorge Martin fought his way past teammate Marco Bezzecchi for second. Martin reduced the gap slightly, but Fernandez cruised to his second career victory, reigniting his title challenge.

Gritty Podium for Bezzecchi

Behind, Marco Bezzecchi delivered a gritty performance to secure third, despite struggling with pain from his Sachsenring injuries. Alex Marquez briefly passed him but then had a huge scare at Copse, dropping him down the order. Bezzecchi defended brilliantly in the closing laps to hold off the Gresini rider.

Alex Marquez settled for fourth, ahead of Pedro Acosta on the leading KTM. Fabio Di Giannantonio passed Marc Marquez late on for sixth, as the latter again suffered from tyre graining. Brad Binder and Luca Marini completed the top ten.

It was a race of attrition, with only 16 of 23 riders finishing. Ai Ogura crashed on lap nine, his first major mistake of the season, dropping him to third in the standings. Francesco Bagnaia also retired, while home hero Cal Crutchlow was another notable casualty.
