A golden opportunity secured by Marco Bezzecchi during the 2026 sprint race vanished in an instant following a chaotic first-corner collision. Starting from a promising second position right behind Raul Fernandez, the Italian rider aimed for a maximum points finish to keep his championship hopes alive. However, his race came to an abrupt halt just hundreds of meters after the initial red lights went out.
The early-race drama unfolded when Marc Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio launched brilliant starts from the third and fourth grid spots. Their aggressive surge forced four motorcycles to barrel into Turn 1 completely side by side. This extreme congestion compelled riders on the outside line to make immediate trajectory corrections to avoid a disastrous multi-bike pile-up.
Bezzecchi explained that the incident was nothing more than a standard racing accident that frequently happens during opening-lap scuffles. He noted that contact is nearly inevitable when multiple riders fight for the same piece of asphalt in tight quarters. The Italian stated that he quickly felt the impact and lost control of his machine moments after adjusting his racing line.

Meanwhile, Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez reacted with visible anger, directing verbal frustration toward his rival in the aftermath. Addressing the heated response, Bezzecchi maintained a calm composure, clarifying that he was merely searching for his ideal braking point and had no intention of throwing away his race in the opening corner.
The zero-points finish delivered a heavy blow to Bezzecchi's championship aspirations, stretching his deficit to the series leader to 59 points. Despite the major setback in the overall standings, the charismatic Italian managed to retain his sense of humor regarding the paddock tensions.
