2026 Indonesian GP Starting Grid: Raul Fernandez Claims Pole as Marc Marquez Chases

The 2026 MotoGP season reaches round 17 with high drama unfolding at the Indonesian Grand Prix. Raul Fernandez delivered a stunning performance to claim his maiden pole position during a fiercely contested Saturday qualifying session.

However, the Trackhouse rider's participation in the main race remains subject to his physical condition following a finger fracture sustained in a crash with factory Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi during the sprint race.

Fernandez is scheduled to participate in Sunday morning's warm-up session to thoroughly assess his fitness before making a final decision on whether he can race at Mandalika. Should he take his place on the grid, he will share the front row with Bezzecchi and VR46 Ducati's Fabio di Giannantonio.

Meanwhile, championship dynamics shifted dramatically after Marc Marquez surged to the top of the standings following a surprise sprint victory. The Spanish star is set to line up in fourth place, directly ahead of his title rival and fellow Aprilia competitor Jorge Martin.

The tightly packed top ten features resilient performances from Fermin Aldeguer, Ai Ogura, Alex Marquez, Pedro Acosta, and Francesco Bagnaia. Japanese manufacturers continue to face an uphill battle at Mandalika, with Fabio Quartararo leading Yamaha's charge from 12th on the grid while Honda struggles for pace.
