MotoGP, Sportrik Media - The MotoGP 2026 season has officially been launched in Kuala Lumpur, marking the start of the championship’s public phase before full attention shifts to on track competition. All leading MotoGP riders were present as the Malaysian capital became the symbolic starting point of the new season.
The fan zone at KLCC Shopping Mall has been established as the main hub for public engagement, allowing fans to interact closely with the MotoGP paddock. The presence of Marc Marquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Fabio Quartararo, Jorge Martin, and Alex Marquez underlined a message of unity across teams before rivalries resume on the racetrack.
Kuala Lumpur’s selection as the launch venue carries clear strategic significance. Positioned at the heart of MotoGP’s Asian pre season activities, the city connects the Sepang Test with the upcoming Buriram Test, reinforcing Southeast Asia’s role as a key growth market for the championship from both sporting and commercial perspectives.

On Friday, 6 February, MotoGP bikes are scheduled to appear in public locations across the city. Display units will be showcased at Isetan KLCC before touring Kuala Lumpur with scheduled stops at Menara KL and Sg. Wang between 11.00 and 13.00 WIB, followed by Dataran Merdeka from 11.00 until 16.00 WIB. This initiative is designed to bring MotoGP technology and atmosphere directly into the urban environment.
Later the same day, all MotoGP riders from the 2026 grid will attend the official opening ceremony via a red carpet event at Menara Permata Sapura starting at 19.30 WIB. The gathering places the entire rider lineup on one stage, a rare moment during the competitive calendar and a key visual statement ahead of the season.
The main event will take place on Saturday, 7 February, at the Petronas Twin Towers precinct. Fans can collect free access wristbands at the fan zone from 09.00 to 15.30 WIB, with gates opening at 15.30 WIB and the main show commencing at 18.00 WIB. Riders will ride their MotoGP machines into the show area before stepping onto the stage, offering fans a close range experience of MotoGP sound and spectacle.
For supporters unable to attend in person, the entire event will be broadcast live and free of charge via MotoGP’s official platforms, including YouTube and motogp.com, starting at 18.30 WIB on Saturday. This ensures global access to the season launch regardless of location.
With the Kuala Lumpur launch underway, MotoGP 2026 has formally entered its opening phase. Once the celebrations conclude, attention across the paddock will return fully to performance, consistency, and strategic preparation ahead of the season opening round.
