Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Lewis Hamilton brought the 2026 Formula 1 Barcelona pre-season test to a close by setting the fastest lap of the entire week, leading a strong final-day showing for Scuderia Ferrari at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The fifth and final day of private testing featured extensive running, with 12 drivers taking to the track across morning and afternoon sessions. Ferrari split driving duties between Charles Leclerc and Hamilton, with Leclerc topping the morning times before Hamilton took over the SF-26 for the afternoon.

Hamilton then delivered the benchmark lap of the test, a 1:16.348, finishing two tenths clear of reigning world champion Lando Norris in second for McLaren. The time marked the quickest lap recorded during the five-day Barcelona programme and underlined Ferrari’s competitive potential heading into the next phase of preparation.

Leclerc’s morning effort was sufficient to secure third position overall on Day 5, ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen of Oracle Red Bull Racing. The top five all posted lap times in the 1:16–1:17 range, reflecting a high-performance level as the test concluded.

From a mileage and reliability perspective, the BWT Alpine F1 Team stood out, with Pierre Gasly completing a class-leading 160 laps, the highest total of the day. The Haas F1 Team also enjoyed substantial running, with Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman both logging significant mileage as Haas prioritised reliability.

For the Audi F1 Team, Day 5 marked the conclusion of an intensive learning week during its debut season. Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto each completed moderate runs, continuing the evaluation of Audi’s new power unit and core systems.

The final day also saw Fernando Alonso return to the cockpit for the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, while Valtteri Bottas represented the Cadillac F1 Team as the American outfit continued to build its early Formula 1 foundations.
