Mick Schumacher has been confirmed as a Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) driver for the 2027 NTT IndyCar Series season. The Ohio-based squad announced the signing, which will see Schumacher pilot the #66 entry alongside Marcus Armstrong in the #60.
The move officially ends Schumacher's tenure with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, which is downsizing from three to two cars next season. His primary sponsor, ENVE Composites, will follow him to his new team.
Schumacher expressed his excitement about the new chapter, praising MSR as an ambitious team with a strong track record, including an Indianapolis 500 victory. "I'm super excited to be working with everyone at Meyer Shank Racing and really excited to be joining such an ambitious team," he said. "It's going to be a special journey. I am looking forward to what more I can learn from the team. They've had some really great success, and of course, going to an Indy 500-winning team is awesome."
Schumacher is finishing his rookie IndyCar season this weekend, sitting mid-pack in the Rookie of the Year battle. He has scored one top-ten finish this year, an eighth at Nashville Superspeedway in July. While results have been inconsistent, the 27-year-old has adapted well, particularly to oval racing.
Schumacher's pedigree, including two seasons in Formula 1 and two in WEC, brings strong racecraft to MSR as it replaces the departing Felix Rosenqvist. His first race with the team will be the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 7, 2027.
This move marks a pivotal point in Schumacher's career, offering a fresh start in North American open-wheel racing after his F1 exit.
