McLaren Sells Five Historic F1 Cars Featuring Ayrton Senna and Brad Pitt Machines

A stunning announcement from Woking sees McLaren officially releasing five legendary Formula 1 cars from its prestigious heritage collection to be acquired by private collectors. This extraordinary offering bridges decades of motorsport history, ranging from machines driven during world championship glory to a modern challenger featured in upcoming Hollywood productions involving renowned actor Brad Pitt.

The rare sale is being handled exclusively by specialist dealer Tom Hartley Jnr, the same organization responsible for managing Bernie Ecclestone's grand prix collection. Up until this monumental transaction, all five iconic machines remained under the direct ownership of the Woking-based squad, carefully preserved within their extensive private facility.

Leading the illustrious lineup are two 1991 MP4/6As bearing chassis numbers 04 and 07, originating from the unforgettable season when Ayrton Senna secured his third and final drivers' world championship. Both historical units were rigorously tested by the Brazilian maestro himself and raced competitively by his seasoned teammate Gerhard Berger throughout that dominant campaign.

The curated selection also highlights the 2012 MP4/27A chassis 01 from Lewis Hamilton's final year with the organization, alongside the 2021 MCL35M chassis 01 adorned in a striking one-off Gulf livery that Lando Norris famously piloted to a podium finish in Monaco. Rounding out the fleet is the 2023 MCL37A chassis 03, which serves as the newest race-driven machine ever offered to private buyers after being driven by Norris, Oscar Piastri, and famously piloted by Pitt at the Circuit of the Americas during film production.

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown emphasized that keeping these rolling pieces of art locked away contradicted their true racing pedigree. aiœWe have decided to part with these iconic McLaren Formula 1 cars because we feel that having them simply sitting in storage is a disservice to what they represent,ai Brown stated. aiœThese cars were built to be driven and raced, and we want to see them being used and enjoyed.ai While no official pricing has been publicly disclosed, market insiders estimate the combined value of these exceptional machines to range anywhere from 25 to 50 million pounds, with potential buyers able to acquire them individually.
