Ahead of the 19th round of the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Max Verstappen has firmly expressed his determination to bounce back following a complicated weekend in Austin. The reigning world champion acknowledged that Red Bull Racing must quickly find the ideal car setup to tackle the unique challenges of the Mexican circuit, particularly regarding high altitude and power unit cooling management.
During the previous race in Texas, the RB22 lacked the outright pace to match its primary rivals, forcing the Dutch driver to settle for a third-place finish after facing intense pressure late in the race. This performance deficit triggered an intensive evaluation within the team, with engineers working tirelessly to understand the technical limitations encountered in the United States in order to improve mechanical grip and aerodynamic efficiency.
The task this weekend will not be straightforward for Verstappen, who is set to sit out the opening practice session. His car will be handed over to young Japanese talent Ayumu Iwasa, who takes over the cockpit during FP1 to gather vital telemetry data for the Milton Keynes-based squad.

Addressing the media ahead of the track action, the Red Bull spearhead shared his thoughts on the upcoming challenge.
Meanwhile, teammate Isack Hadjar is eager to learn from a costly operational mistake made during the Austin Grand Prix. The youngster inadvertently ran with the wrong engine mode for over half the race distance due to a driver error, costing him roughly a second per lap.
Despite the setback, the French driver remains highly motivated as he returns to the venue where he first experienced driving a Formula 1 car.
