Max Verstappen has reportedly earned a significant pay rise after committing his Formula 1 future to Red Bull. The new long-term contract binds the four-time world champion until the end of 2030, ending speculation about his F1 career.
The revelation came from Pierre Gasly, Verstappen's former teammate at Red Bull. Gasly admitted that Verstappen's manager did an excellent job in negotiations, resulting in what he called a "nice pay rise." While financial details remain undisclosed, Verstappen already boasted the highest salary in F1, estimated at $50 million per year.
Praise from Former Teammate
Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Gasly expressed his appreciation for the deal. "No, [I'm not surprised]. I think a very good job from his manager and nice pay rise," Gasly said. He also viewed the news as positive for the entire racing world, given Verstappen's status as one of the best drivers of his generation. "I think it's definitely good news for everyone," he added.

Gasly, who partnered Verstappen for 12 races in 2019, also highlighted Verstappen's decision to stay with one team for an extended period, calling it a rarity in modern F1. "I find it actually quite a nice story. I can't really recall any driver who spent that much time in the same team," he remarked.
Freedom Beyond F1 and Career Goals
Beyond financial gains, the new contract affords Verstappen the freedom to compete in other racing categories, opening the door for his Nurburgring 24 Hours debut. "Red Bull allows me to do things also a little bit outside of Formula 1, so it's like a big plus," Verstappen explained.
Verstappen reiterated that his dream is to retire with Red Bull, a wish he once shared with Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz. By the time the deal ends, he will be 33 years old. "I always said my goal is to finish my career in this team. We have tasted a lot of being on top, and that makes you very hungry to get there again," he concluded.
