Martins Sesks wants to be driving somewhere and with someone in 2027, but like many competitors, the Latvian driver is staring down an uncertain future in the World Rally Championship.
With major technical regulation changes looming—where Rally1 cars will be pared back in line with Rally2 from 2027 alongside new constructors entering the series—the driver market is currently experiencing a massive state of flux.
Sesks burst onto the international scene with standout performances during the 2024 season at Rally Poland and his home event, which ultimately earned him part-time programs with M-Sport.

Throughout his career in the top category, the 27-year-old has accumulated 16 starts in a Rally1 car, securing a career-best finish of fifth place during his debut outing in Poland.
Looking ahead to his career path, Sesks admitted that it is still too early to outline his ideal plan as he evaluates whether his privately funded campaigns over recent seasons have truly been worthwhile.
"I just want to see the results of these two years, what we have done, and what, at the moment, teams and someone has to offer," Sesks told DirtFish.
"I just want to see if it has been worth it, to work these two and a half years to have some proper program and then we'll see," he added.
Reflecting on a challenging campaign where he contested six events with a best finish of seventh in Estonia, Sesks pointed out the recurring hurdles that hindered his overall performance.
"Yeah, I think overall season has been troubled with a lot of things like that. If you look back, we haven’t had a single rally without any issues. OK, Finland was my fault, Estonia as well, but otherwise we’ve been fighting with a lot of issues overall," Sesks concluded.
