Dominique Aegerter endured a grueling 2026 WorldSSP campaign marked by intense mental and technical hurdles aboard the Kawasaki machine. Out of 24 races held throughout the season, the Swiss rider failed to score points in eight rounds due to a mix of technical gremlins and an uncompetitive package during the opening stages.
The ongoing struggles to break into the points-paying positions took a heavy toll on the two-time world champion's mindset as he battled outside the top ten. Teammate Jeremy Alcoba ultimately finished strong to secure championship bronze, adding further intra-team pressure.
"This season we struggled more often just to make it into the points," Aegerter reflected when looking back at his difficult year. "At the beginning of the season we were far away with the overall package, and my mentality suffered. When you doubt whether you are fit enough, eating enough, or too heavy, thinking about quitting and wondering if the team and bike are good, everything becomes very difficult."

Despite a turbulent year, Aegerter reminded the paddock of his elite class by claiming a strong second-place finish in the season finale. With Kawasaki opting for a different rider lineup for 2027, the veteran is currently evaluating his options to remain in the WorldSSP paddock.
