Marc Marquez once again showed his dominance at MotorLand Aragon, taking his eighth premier class win at the circuit and extending his perfect Ducati record there to six consecutive victories. The reigning champion also moved ahead of Marco Bezzecchi to claim second place in the world championship standings.
The 23-lap race was far from easy for Marquez. He had to battle hard with Bezzecchi at the start, but it was Pedro Acosta who emerged as his main rival. Acosta, who will become Marquez's teammate next season, stayed close and even led for a few corners. However, Marquez's experience and pace eventually told, and he took the lead on lap six.
This win is a valuable boost for Marquez in the title fight. He now trails championship leader Jorge Martin by a narrow margin. Meanwhile, Acosta secured his first podium with KTM since the Balaton round, a proud achievement for the Austrian factory team.
Behind them, the battle for the top five was intense. Alex Marquez, who had impressed all weekend, had to settle for fourth, followed by Jorge Martin in fifth. Fermin Aldeguer continued his strong form with sixth, while Fabio Di Giannantonio, returning from a back injury, finished seventh.
Bad news came from the Ducati camp as Pecco Bagnaia crashed out early, and Franco Morbidelli also retired. Raul Fernandez, the Silverstone winner, was forced out with a technical issue. Despite these incidents, the race provided thrilling action to the checkered flag.
With this result, the championship battle is heating up. Marquez is now just a few points behind the leader and will look to carry this momentum into the next round at Misano on 11-13 September.
