The race weekend in Australia heated up immediately as Marc Marquez showed his true colors on the opening day at Phillip Island. The Cervera rider emerged as the top Ducati representative in practice, securing a crucial fourth place while caught in a tight sandwich between competitive Aprilia machines dominating the fast corners.
According to reports from Motosan.es, the veteran rider admitted that he deliberately dialed in a high-intensity approach right from Friday's sessions. This aggressive stance was primarily driven by ominous weather forecasts threatening to disrupt both Saturday's qualifying and Sunday's main grand prix.
"I start Friday with a different intensity. It is true, because it seems the forecasts for tomorrow and Sunday will not be the best. But I wouldn't be prepared if tomorrow or Sunday the weather was dry. I mean that can change. So the best thing was to try to start with high intensity to set up the bike," Marquez explained regarding his early tactical moves.

With only five rounds remaining in the championship battle, any cautious conservative approach has been completely thrown out the window. Ducati engineers must now address the formidable pace shown by Aprilia across the high-speed sections of the Australian circuit, though securing a direct spot in Q2 provides a vital psychological boost.
"Now that there are only five races left, you have to use attack mode everywhere. So it doesn't matter if you are right-handed or left-handed. What I mean is that I will try to attack on all circuits," he emphasized while discussing his aggressive mindset for the remainder of the season.
Addressing the likelihood of wet track conditions—something the grid has not faced since Jerez—Marquez stressed that superior performance comes from meticulous preparation rather than relying purely on last-minute instincts.
