Marc Marquez's 10th Sachsenring Win Cuts Title Deficit to 18 Points

Marc Marquez once again proved why he is the king of Sachsenring. At the 2026 German Grand Prix, the Ducati rider dominated from pole position, winning the main race by nearly two seconds and slashing his championship deficit to just 18 points. This victory is his third consecutive, following wins in Hungary and Czechia, and his 10th at this favorite circuit.

A perfect start was key. Marquez led from the first corner, followed by his brother Alex Marquez on the Gresini Ducati. Drama unfolded as Fabio Di Giannantonio from VR46 lost positions and eventually crashed on lap four, easing the fight at the front. Alex Marquez also faltered, dropping from second on lap nine.

With a growing lead, Marquez controlled the pace in the latter half. He completed the 30 laps 1.996 seconds ahead of Ai Ogura from Trackhouse. Ogura impressed, passing teammate Raul Fernandez with six laps to go to take second. Fernandez had to settle for third.

This win is more than just points; it's a statement. From 102 points behind after the Italian GP, Marquez is now just 18 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin. Ogura moves to second, 14 points adrift of Martin. Marco Bezzecchi's total collapse in the last three races has opened the door for Marquez to retake the title lead.

Behind, the battle was intense. Pedro Acosta on the KTM climbed from eighth and briefly challenged for the podium, but had to settle for fourth. Pecco Bagnaia tried to pressure Martin late on but couldn't get past. Fabio Quartararo was the top Yamaha in seventh.

With the season at its halfway point, the pressure is now on Martin and Ogura. Marquez, with momentum and a track he owns, is clearly the biggest threat. Can he keep this trend and overtake at the top? We'll see in the next round.
