The premier class championship battle is rapidly approaching its climax as Marc Marquez successfully secured a vital result this weekend. The star Ducati rider acknowledged that clever strategy and meticulous tyre management were the decisive factors in extending his championship lead over his closest rivals.
Although the race victory at the Lusail circuit went to his competitors, a remarkably solid weekend performance leaves the eight-time world champion in an enviable position. With only two Grands Prix remaining in the season, the primary focus now shifts toward risk management and maintaining a steady rhythm to secure the coveted world title.
"This has been an extremely important weekend, especially because we knew beforehand that our rivals would be very fast here," Marquez explained to broadcasters after stepping onto the podium. "However, when you are fighting for a world championship, you extract things from your riding style, and the team also unlocks unexpected potential from the machine. We performed at a high level throughout the entire weekend."

Reflecting on the Grand Prix action, the veteran Spaniard detailed how he deliberately avoided taking excessive risks in the opening corners to protect his long-term championship objectives. That tactical patience paid off handsomely as he carefully evaluated the race conditions before charging forward.
"As you saw at the beginning of the race, I didn't even attack on the first corner. I kept a cool head when positions shifted, because I had my own race plan in mind," he noted. "I knew I had to extract the absolute maximum from my riding style without overstepping the limit."
Tyre management during the initial laps also played a massive role in preserving his race pace. Conserving the rear tyre in the early stages prevented detrimental front-end wear that could have compromised his overall performance.
