Having already secured the championship title, Luka Sammalisto is determined to finish the Italian Formula 4 season on a high note by claiming a double victory at Mugello. The US Racing standout ensured he will start Sunday's final from pole position following a stellar performance.
The Finnish driver seized the lead from polesitter David Cosma-Cristofor of Prema right at the start, immediately withstanding race-long pressure from R-ace GP charger Kenzo Craigie in a gripping battle.
The Mercedes-AMG junior constantly towed himself onto the rear wing of the leader into the demanding San Donato first corner, but Sammalisto maintained a flawless defensive masterclass to keep his rival at bay throughout the distance.

Drama unfolded later in the race when a safety car was deployed to recover Jensen Burnett's stranded car from the gravel trap following a collision. Managing the restart to absolute perfection, Sammalisto kept Craigie behind him, while Ludovico Busso capitalized on the restart chaos to snatch third place away from Cosma-Cristofor.
Reflecting on his performance, Sammalisto shared his thoughts after the checkered flag. "Race 2 went really well again. I think the start was good, and Kenzo also got away quite well behind me, but I managed to keep him behind," he stated. Meanwhile, Craigie remained satisfied with his podium finish despite acknowledging the overtaking difficulties at the venue. Read our in-depth analysis here.
