Fabio Di Giannantonio Admits Hidden Issues Hold Back His Ducati in Sepang

The race weekend at the Sepang Circuit delivered intense action as Fabio Di Giannantonio secured a solid fifth-place finish in the Malaysian GP Sprint. The Italian rider representing the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team started from sixth on the grid and maintained a strong pace near the front throughout a race impacted by Alex Marquez's crash and looming rain threats.

Despite the strong result, technical limitations continue to prevent him from extracting the absolute maximum potential from his Ducati machine. He openly admitted that front-running rivals currently hold a slight advantage in race pace, though he remains confident in finding improvements ahead of the main grand prix to challenge for a podium finish.

Reflecting on his overall performance, the Italian expressed general satisfaction with his machine's handling.

He also highlighted his competitive qualifying lap while acknowledging a persistent gap to the fastest riders. The challenge escalated significantly when unpredictable rain drops began affecting specific sectors of the circuit, forcing riders to rely heavily on sensory instincts rather than just visual cues on a mixed-grip asphalt.

Describing the tricky moments when weather conditions shifted on track, he explained how he navigated the slippery tarmac.

Despite the changing weather, he never considered pitting for a bike swap because the rainfall was isolated to specific corners while the rest of the layout remained manageable. Concluding his day's assessment, he noted that a more aggressive start and an early overtaking maneuver could have yielded an even better position on the final classification.
