Lewis Hamilton has issued an open apology to Ferrari after missing out on a potential podium finish during a dramatic Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. Starting the race with high expectations of securing a top-three result, the seven-time world champion ultimately slipped down to sixth place following a high-risk tyre strategy gamble.
The podium aspirations vanished when the veteran driver attempted to stretch a set of soft compound tyres across a grueling 44-lap stint. This baffling decision caused him to bleed crucial positions in the closing stages, while his garage neighbor successfully brought home a strong second-place finish behind the race winner.
Immediately after taking the chequered flag, the British racer shouldered the blame over team radio, admitting that his insistence on staying out on track cost the Maranello squad valuable championship points.

"Sorry boys. I let you down today with that strategy," the driver stated over the radio. "My call, and I lost us valuable points. I'll try and make up for it in the next one. Great job with the pit stop though."
Meanwhile, Team Principal Fred Vasseur clarified after the race that the squad had prepared a seamless double-stack pit stop under the virtual safety car, but the execution broke down when the entry lane was missed.
"We kept the door open for the two options, depending on VSC, and that was the case," Vasseur explained. "We called him, we called them both to pit. It would have been P2-P3 because we were P2-P3 on track, and he missed the pit entry, and honestly it’s a bit of a shame because he’s losing a podium also."
Attention has now shifted entirely toward the upcoming rounds as the team looks to build on the baseline pace shown throughout the race weekend and iron out operational execution moving forward.
